WELCOME TO PLTW/STEM

Hi, my name is Sharon Rebac and I would like to welcome you to our 4th and 5th grade Project Lead The Way program at Americana School.  PLTW/STEM class encourages students to think outside the box, challenge themselves and explore the possibilities that Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics have to offer.

 

Our Class Mission Statement:

  • Through PLTW Launch, the classroom comes alive when students become hands-on problem solvers and use a student-centered collaborative team approach.  They begin each module with an engaging ebook story featuring the characters Angelina, Mylo, and Suzi who introduce the challenge. Then, in a series of activities that build upon each other, students are challenged to become confident in trying new things, learning from mistakes, and applying what they know to find solutions for the project and real-world problems.

    Hands-On, Minds-On Family Fun Night Video

    Our Americana Families had a FABULOUS time participating in robot races, building a boat challenge, experimenting with Weird and Wacky Contraptions, exploring the properties of slime, trying to get out of the escape room, pointillism painting fun, coding binary bracelets and making pinwheels. We finished the evening with some delicious hot cocoa.  Everyone had a great time creating meaningful memories together.
